Hello all,
My question is in reference to the placement of the U.S. Flag on fire helmets. I would like to know on which side of the helmet should the Flag be placed? Right or left side? I would also like to know which direction should the stripes face? Towards the front of the helmet or the rear?
Thank you,

The field of stars should always placed as if the flag is advancing. In other words, they should be placed toward the front of the helmet. The American Legion has the US Flag Code available on their website as well as a lot of other information. The link is American Legion/US Flag Code .

Like Steamer says, advancing, that means the left side.
It's only my opinion. I do not speak for any group or organization I belong to or associate with or people I know - especially my employer. If you like it, we can share it, you don't have to give me credit. If you don't, we are allowed to disagree too (but be ready to be challenged, you may be on to something I'm not). That's what makes America great!

I have a sticker of the flag on the back of my leather New Yorker just left of the center in place of the tetrahedron. I also placed a flag on a pole in the tire tube strap in the rear of the helmet, that does not go inside of structure fires with me as I don't want that flag to burn.

STEAMER HAS IT RIGHT. THE FLAG IS ALWAYS ADVANCING, NEVER RETREATING.
You can get flags for either side, just like for uniforms.
It drives me nuts how many depts uniforms (including my own) have the flag facing the wrong way.
Hey Steamer, what post do you belong to?

I have a flag sticker on the back of my Ben II Plus. Right next to my 9-11 memorial sticker for FDNY

Put it on either side, but like they say above, if you get the flag that LOOKS backwards IT GOES ON THE RIGHT SIDE...
...if you put the handline in the right spot, you won't have to jump out the window...
