    Default Electric Valves

I'M LOOKING FOR INPUT FROM THE USERS OF ELECTRIC DISCHRGE AND IN-TAKE VALVES. WE ARE CONDSIDERING THESE ON OUR NEW TRUCKS AND I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THE SUCESSES AND FAILURES OR PIT FALLS OF USING THESE VALVES.

We have them on our two newest rigs. Only problem has been pump operators not holding the switch long enough for them to open all the way. They seem to think it's like a light switch, but you have to hold it up for 5-7 seconds till the light comes on. If you're paying attention, you can see the manual valve turning while you're holding the switch.

We have installed electric intake valves on 5 of our pumpers starting in 1996. We had problems with the first 2 pumpers, after about 6 months the indicator lights would get stuck. The problem was discussed with Hale and we found that the sensors inside the valves were getting corroded. These sensors were replaced with newer ones and have been alright since. We never had the valves not work, but highly suggest manual overrides.

We have an electric 4" discharge valve on our '92 pumper it has worked fine. The only problem we had with it was the indicator light turned on as soon as you opened the valve and you had just hold the switch to make sure the valve was open all the way. On our '98 pumper we have electric intake and discharge valve both have worked fine. Now on the discharge valve there are 3 lights one for closed, partial open and fully open works nice. That valve is an akron.
