1240 F32 Stoke Newington Unusual incident (fatal) at 215 Wrens Park Rd, small fire in a residence, nothing used, one elderly civilian found DOA.
1501 A30 Islington Persons reported fire at 12 Bracklyn Court on Wimbourne St, kitchen fire in 2nd flr apartment using 1 hosereel, 1 civilian rescued w/smoke inhalation, 1 add'l civilian w/smoke inhalation.

Time: 05:40 a.m.
This is District Chief Ron Davis of the Cincinnati Fire Department reporting on a one-alarm fire at 2460 Boudinot Ave.
On 4/10/02 at 0540 AM the fire occurred in a four family multi- dwelling and was confined to one apartment. Fire units arrived on scene and saw medium smoke coming from a first floor apartment. Companies forced entry into the apartment and extinguished the fire in the living room. A fire victim was found in the room of origin. The victim was a male, white approximately 50 years of age.
The name will not be released until the Police Department notifies the next of kin. Cincinnati Fire Investigation unit and Cincinnati Homicide Unit are investigating the cause of the fire and death. The apartment did have a smoke detector but it is not known at this time whether the detector was functional at the time of the fire.
The cause is listed as undetermined at this time. The loss to the building is estimated at $10,000 dollars. Tenants in the other apartments were not displaced and their apartments had minor smoke damage.

***BALTIMORE, MARYLAND FIRE HISTORY***
for April 10th:
1944: Box#7126 was sounded for a field fire in the area adjacent to the railroad tracks near Dukeland St & Wilkens Ave, Southwest Baltimore - The use of Indian Tanks for the scattered blazes was called for, & while Firefighter John J. Pfadenhauer, E-30, had a tank strapped on his back, he stumbled & fell down a steep embankment & stuck his head on a discarded automobile door - He suffered a broken neck & was taken to Saint Agnes Hospital were he was pronounced dead - He was 50 years old & in the fire service for 20 years, all with E-30 - He was buried on 4/13 in Loudon Park Cemetery. 1952: Box#8559 - 1358hrs - An extensive field fire was burning in the area of Lake Ave & Maylane Dr, Cedarcroft (North Baltimore), & the fire was extinguished several hours later - Captain Harry E. Tuckey, E-21, was dragging wet hose, preparing to replace it on the rig, when he suddenly collapsed & was rushed to Union Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead @ 1605hrs - He was 52 years old with 23 years in the fire service - He was buried in Baltimore Cemetery on 4/14. 1955: 4 Alarms - Box#248 - 428 The Fallsway - Northeast Of Downtown - Fire involved the H. J. Dowling Company. (CHM1)
1991: 2 Alarms - Box#7824 - 0259hrs - 2302 Ocala Ave - Mondawmin (Northwest Of Downtown) - Fire involved a 3 story apartment building - A 34 year old mother & her 18 month old & 6 month old sons died in the fire - The apartment was wired for a smoke detector, but it was removed by someone unknown for an unknown reason - The fire was caused by careless smoking - (Note: Companies with a "*" have since been disbanded) 1st alarm @ 0259hrs = E-52, E-13, E-8, *T-4*, *Aerial Tower-122* (Now E-29), Medic-17, Medic-16, Medic-11, & BC-4 - 2nd alarm @ 0302hrs = E-40, E-36, E-20, *E-18*, T-10, T-12, *Aerial Tower-111*, AirFlex-1 (Now Air Cascade-1), EMS Super-4, Rescue-1, Medic-4, Medic-1, Medic-15, *BC-7* (Now BC-5), & *DC-1* (Now Shift Commander) - Fire under control @ 0325hrs. 1993: Box#829 - 2012hrs - 500 Block E 21st St - North Of Downtown - A sidewalk crap game was in progress in front of 520 E 21st St, a boarded up brick rowhouse - 1 of the participants departed, short of luck & money - He allegedly returned a short while later in a car with (3) companions & a semi-automatic rifle - 1 of the men ordered the men to "give up the money" - The people refused - @ that point, someone opened up with the assault rifle, reportedly an AK-47 - By the time the firing ceased, around (40) rounds had been popped off & (13) people were down - The bad guys split & all hell broke loose - Police swarmed to the scene & medic units began their parade to & from area hospitals - (11) medics units responded to the scene - (4) of the wounded went to the University Of Maryland Shock/Trauma Unit, with the remaining (9) spread out between Johns Hopkins Hospital, Union Memorial Hospital, & Key Medical Center - No victims died - The next day a bank security guard was arrested but was later released for lack of evidence - Medic call @ 2000hrs = Medic-16 & Medic-11 - Medic call @ 2003hrs = Medic-3, Medic-7, & EMS Super-3 - Medic call @ 2007hrs = Medic-5 - Medic call @ 2008hrs = Medic-16 - Medic call @ 2010hrs = Medic-10 - Special call @ 2010hrs = E-31 & Medic-1 - 1st alarm @ 2012hrs = *E-19*, E-6, *E-32*, *Aerial Tower-111*, T-5, *T-7*, & BC-2 - Special call @ 2015hrs = EMS Super-4 - Medic call @ 2024hrs = Medic-6 - Medic call @ 2025hrs = Medic-13 - Medic call @ 2027hrs = Medic-18 - Special call @ 2141hrs = AirFlex-2 (Now Air Cascade-2).
