Thanks Rescue101 and CR. I was hoping I read it correctly - but needed to be sure. (too much Legaleese and a fuzzy brain today) It is good news indeed. Although I seem to recall that the Chief and a few others received some sort of immunity by "services rendered" to the court somehow. I forget how it was worded exactly, other than they would not be named in any lawsuits. Looks like someone else found a loop-hole in that clause?

However, I think I agree with the Township and the property owner being dropped off the suit list. How could they know an Idiot was running the show?

    Default 9 years gone.

    Hi ChiefReason here.
It's been awhile since I have been here.
Some of you who were around here when this discussion started saw over 26,000 replies.
I made a promise when Brad died in the training incident that I would never let a nation of firefighters forget him. I have section of my blog at www.chiefreasonart.com dedicated to Bradley.
The reason that I am here today is that I am getting some of the guys back together again for a podcast. I do a podcast show called FirefighterNetcast Presents the Voice of Reason. It can be found on BlogTalkRadio.
The show will be September 30, 2010 at 9:00 pm ET. Gonz, Dave and Steamer have already committed to joining me. We will go back in time, reminisce and I am hoping to have someone on who can offer us some current insights from Lairdsville. (Michael; if you are reading this, I'd love to here from you @ art.chiefreason.goodrich99@gma il.com)
I know that this incident hit many of us hard. It DID effect change. And it is still relevant.
Please join some old friends as we look at then and now.
    TCSS.

Art, can you please remind us closer to the date (like one or two days before), as that is one podcast I would definitely listen to. THANKS!

Nice way to honor Bradley, especially with the anniversary date coming up.

Default Podcast Thursday, September 30 at 9:00 pm ET.

    Photo from NIOSH Report F2001-38

September 25, 2010 marks the ninth year since the death of rookie firefighter Bradley Golden.

On September 25, 2001, Brad Golden had been on the Lairdsville Fire Department for three weeks; just enough time to die!

Brad was the victim of a training exercise that went terribly wrong. It was to be a joint, live-burn training exercise with Lowell, Westmoreland and Lairdsville fire departments. It was to be an evening exercise; one that he could have very easily chosen not to attend. He had committed to being there and he was a young man who kept his word and his commitments.

As it were on this day, Brad could have gone out with friends. But, according to his stepfather, Bob Roberts, Brad was “all pumped up about the practice”. Nothing was going to come between Brad and his dream of being a firefighter; a dream that he had held since his days in Clark Mills, where he would watch the firefighters there. The sirens, the flash of the big rigs going by and the looks on the faces of the firefighters as they went by were too powerful to resist. Brad was hooked at an early age.

Brad got to live his dream for three, short weeks
.- From “Just Enough Time to Die”

Please join me on Thursday, September 30th at 9:00 pm ET for FirefighterNetcast Presents The Voice of Reason. The entire show will be dedicated to the memory of Bradley Golden.

I will be joined by some very special guests; all of whom participated in the discussions in the aftermath of this terrible tragedy. We will be discussing the NIOSH report, the news articles, the trial, the lawsuits and the changes that were invoked by the state of New York.

Find out why “live victims” were used.

Find out what defense “strategy” was used by Baird’s defense attorney, Bob Moran.

Find out why the original discussion “Lairdsville Re-visited” had over 500 replies and over 26,000 views.

    Tune in to find out.

Unfortunately I am already committed to teaching tonight but I'll definitely be checking out the recorded version during some downtime this weekend.

Thanks Gents for putting this together.

I am very familiar with this incident as my father worked with the Al. Most dont know the true story that happened. Chief your page on brad gives one of the best true statements as to what happened.

If not, you need to look into Lairdsville's experience with that.
