I have 4 scanners in the house and my pager. My wife makes me turn down all the scanners at night, but the pager in the amplfier on alert lets me hear any of our calls. I sometimes hear some chatter on the scanner from the livingroom, and will get up to hear the details. I am also in a scanner listeners alert group that sends alerts to other scanner enthusiasts, so sometimes I will sit up late at night listening for any calls from the surrounding counties.

Listening to Nighttime calls

Okay I have the best solution to that! You can do what I did! Marry a fellow firefighter, then all you have to complain about is surround sound when a call goes out and then fighting over who is driving to the station! I can't even complain about how bad he smells because I smell the same way!
