German 'James Bond' busted in car chase

    Reuters December 10, 2009 10:03 AM

BERLIN - German police arrested a man who claimed to be a "secret agent" after a high speed chase in pursuit of a car with a blue flashing light on its roof.

Police in the southern city of Fuerth caught up with the man after he raced past them, ignored signals to pull over, and ran a red light as they gave chase.

Smelling strongly of alcohol, the 44-year-old whispered only that he was "one of them", on a secret mission and belonged to the Federal Crime Office a body similar to the FBI local police said. A check revealed he had no such credentials.

"After matters were taken care of, the would-be 'Mr. Bond' was again released," police said in a statement on Thursday.

A local police spokesman said the man in reality had "a normal job" and declined to explain his nightime sortie. He faces charges for a variety of driving offences.

At least you didn't pick up anything that requires batteries.

I think some people fail to buy batteries on purpose; Provides that extra extra gift for the season.... frustration.

One thing good about my shopping list, once the gifts are given out, I never seem to have anyone ask to return anything to the store! The only complaint once in a while is that it is one size too small, but still no returns!

The favorite gift of the past few years has been some Muscadine Wine that is made by a vineyard in Natchez, MS, called Old South. That will be the primary gift for this year.

What's the better one this year, the red or the white muscadine?

My money is on the red for a sweet after-dinner glass of wine.

I hear that amber is the "in" color for rum this year...

Sorry I missed the big New Year's Eve party here. I got sucked into bidding on stuff on ebay, and next thing I knew, a year had passed by...

Just think, you could have been passing the International Date Line and got it back.

I thought the international date line was "Can I buy you a drink?"

I didn't either. Good one. I needed a good laugh this morning. I can now go into the officer's meeting with a smile on my face. They will think I'm ticked off about something instead of my usual stearn look when they expect happy. Got to keep them on their toes... right?
