I must admit, "mighty, mighty pleasin', your pappy's corn squeezin' " did cross my mind. However, I was trying to keep the song references in the "Fun...question...." thread..
I know I've posted this elsewhere in a thread, but to get on subject of this one, which has long since been hijacked, the place where I used to go do my partying and revelry is still standing, albiet it is now a funeral home. The parking lot and tin on the building are the only things that still look the same. I wonder if they still have the mechanical bull? That would liven up a wake... I used to love to go listen to the live band every Friday night, but it was BYOB. You could buy soft drinks and ice. On a good night, they would have fresh popcorn at the bar... On a better night, you could get hot nacho cheese and corn chips. I wonder if they have pool tables in the presentation rooms. That'd be cool..
"I'm going to miss ol' Joe.." (sound of cue ball cracking the rack)
"Yeah, he was the life of the party." (sound of balls falling into pocket)
" Hey, who put the blue chalk on his nose??" (sound of Joe's mad wife)I fish for a living, but I have to work for money...

When I lived in Fairfax, my favorite place to go was the Shark Club. I used to enjoy Cotton Eye Joes down here in Knoxville but.....I can't say I have a fav place to go right now. Maybe when I move................

Hey Bartender....
here's a sign some of us might like!
In the mean time, slide me down a DIET Root Beer. I need a drink.

You want a DIET drink? Are you nuts? This is a place for fun and relaxation---we don't need no stinkin' diets.

My place was always the St Andrews Hotel. In St Andrews, of course. Victoria, Australia. Not Scotland. Too damned cold up there!
Bands playing Friday night, Saturday arvo, Saturday night, Sunday arvo. I used to go to all the sessions, never drank much, driving. As I no longer have a wage coming in, I don't go there very often - such is life.

Until Simon (the owner) started doing some really weird things, the Stonehouse Pub in Sidney (British Columbia Sidney LOL) was a great place. Simon is British, so the pub, which really was an old stone built manor, was decorated with proper Irish style, right down to bringing in local Irish talent. And yes, a lot of the bar staff were either English or Irish too.
More recently, Sine's out of Arlington (Pentagon City) has been about as 'regular' a place as it gets for me now.

One of the more popular places I visited, in Tuscaloosa, AL, was the "Bama Beach Club" which was near the campus of the University of Alabama. In an hour's time, our designated driver was bucked up as a lab rat. While trying one of the popular "Screaming blue MF'ers" I realized that I was the only one that wasn't working on intoxication. (heartburn from the vodka) I went on a coca-cola binge after that, sobering up in the next four hours while the group continued to get sloshed. It was a long drive home, a night spent on a couch with 4 drunks in the house, and a rude awakening by an answering machine that had it's volume stuck on "wake the dead." The mother of my friend's wife was calling to see if they were going to church...
Ahh, the memories...I fish for a living, but I have to work for money...

Yep, know where the Dubliner is - found when Da Rev came for a visit a few years ago. Only problem is, I dont live anywhere near DC itself and tend to not go anywhere near it after dark, except when on Embassy duties.
I prefer to stick to my own side of the river after hours heeheheheeee. Less chance of getting wet that way!

!!! (knock, knock, knock...) Hey, let me in!!! I don't have a key!!
Dang-it.. Coffee here is a heck of a lot cheaper than Star(mega)bucks.. Happy hour is where you make it.. For some, it is in the morning with that first ten cups of coffee, for others, it is in the evening with the last ten bottles of beer.
(For a select few, it would be at both times described above!)I fish for a living, but I have to work for money...
