At least cats (this one, anyway) are housebroken. Or do I mean pub-broken?

    What about cat hair?

Anyway, I've got nothing against cats as long as they don't walk all over my vehicles.

However, if a certain stray cat keeps sleeping on my boat cover, he may find himself sleeping in a pile of black pepper.. Then again, if he keeps peeing on my aluminium wheels, he may end up castrated, or worse...

Way back when I lived in Calgary, I had a condo, with outdoor parking. There was a neighbourhood cat that used to sleep on my car roof all the time. Even though I like cats very much and in fact had two at home at the time, I finally took to purchasing a .22 pellet pistol. Even though I accidentally put a couple of paint chips in the car, the cat finally stopped sleeping on my car.

I wisely left the pistol back in BC with friends, since I felt it was not a good idea to try and take it across the border with me.

I realized yesterday afternoon that there were cat prints all over my trunk, rear window and roof. Nice muddy ones! I like cats but, that one better be glad it's nowhere near me now.

And 1214, I don't shed so y'all don't hafta worry about anything that comes out of the kitchen.

    Nice Kitty!

I'm glad that most folks don't like muddy cat prints on vehicles. I have no problem sharing space with cats, but when they start to act like they own the world.... well.. I have a stray that started hanging around. It is mild tempered but has the habit of finding itself on vehicles, boats, furniture, etc. To make it worse, he marks all of his territory. D@mn cat.

I need a beer with a good scotch chaser.

    RANT ON

For the past 18 months or so, I have been attempting to train a replacement in another section. He worked for me as a subordinate for almost a year before I moved to another part of the office.

The job entails the creation, audit and payment of travel vouchers. Generally speaking, not a difficult task, but it does require a certain amount of imagination sometimes. Especially when dealing with long distance personnel, and even more so when he/she travels to Europe.

In any case, I have spent numerous hours explaining the how's, why's and wherefore's of the job and its attendant regulations and SOP's, apparently to no avail.

Since I am still "here", I am still the resident expert on the process, and still retain my signature authorities for payments. Which also means that I still do payment authorization and post payment audits.

This would not be so bad, I guess, except that I find myself repeating whole conversations some days. That just sucks. Its sucks even more when you consider that the person in question did 25 years, retired as a Sgt and then re-enlisted to the same grade I am. I can't help but think "This person is supposed to know this even better than I do."

    RANT OFF.

    Red face

I have come a strong conclusion over this past few days that has fully manifested itself this morning.

Since receiving my orders to return to Canada A Superior Being has worked really hard to hinder that return.

The lastest thing is that the State Department has indicated that it will likely take up to three weeks (a week AFTER I go back) to get my truck and trailer titles with attending temporary tags.

I have also found out in the past 24 hrs that there is an outstanding recall on my truck for the ABS sensor system. Apparently it has ABS brakes. I didn't know that because 1) its a 1991 and 2) I have never seen a panel light come on when I engage the starter.

As well, I have been 100% unsuccessful in trying to sell my Jeep J20, so am now in the process of trying to donate it to the Purple Heart Foundation.

Therefore it would appear that God or someone standing in for her is trying to send me not quite so subliminal messages suggesting that maybe this is transfer should not take place. I said that to the Sgt Major this morning, and I thought he was going to keel over in his chair and pee himself for laughing so hard.
