(Washington-AP) -- Firefighters went to great lengths to free a
man from a stuck Metro elevator tonight.
A D-C fire spokesman the elevator was stuck 60 feet underground
at the Woodley Park-Zoo station in Northwest.
Firefighter David Peyton used a rope to rappel 60 feet down the
shaft and then went in through the roof of the car to get the
26-year-old man inside.
The firefighter and the elevator passenger were then pulled back
up the shaft to safety.
Fire spokesman Alan Etter says the passenger didn't want to
stick around to talk about the experience.
