    Default Los Angeles-New C-130

Congratulations to the LA fire crews...you'll get some big deliveries by air! We could have used it here Sunday!
    -----------------------------------------------------

Los Angeles has a new weapon that will make fighting wildfires much easier.

The new J-model C-130 is equipped with a revolutionary firefighting system. The
plane can deliver four-thousand gallons of water or flame retardant, covering
twice the area of older units.

California's "146th airlift wing" will be the first to use the system. The
C-130-J is the first new aircraft in their 80-year history.

    Unhappy Parkway Job

NJFFS..You should have come down with the rest of the Div. "A" Boys on the night shift. C and A had sent a good amount of Power Wagons up/down for night relief... The First backfire didn't hold it, and it crowned over the Parkway and headed to Bayville, where the one house was lost . The head burning in a south-eastern direction jumped Central Blvd. , burning towards Northern Blvd. where the Observation bird, spotted a 1/4 acre jumpover on the other side of that street. B-6 made a nice stop on it . The Vols. held the head from taking anymore homes on Nothern Blvd. It was then decided to attack the North flank of the Head Fire with 5 Power Wagons{B7,8,34,14 and 32} and the 2 delta units with drop buckets. We had a Lake close by , so the turn around time with the Huey's was only a few minutes . The attack worked great the help of the HUEYS.. That was was about it for forward movement of the head fire. As for the west side of the parkway I can't give you too much info.. The Service and the Vols. did a great job keeping the damage down. It was URBAN INTERFACE NIGHTMARE.....

I go...only when they tell me to go. Or that Powerwagon isn't going to be in my driveway....it's gonna be in another Warden's driveway! Besides...there aren't any hills down there...how would I roll the truck to get it started again? (Just kidding Pete..it runs great)

Gee, I coulda seen my ol' pal CBP!
