    Default Efficiency Staffing

At one time I read an article or saw somewhere a study that said what the number of memebers a company had to get their maximum effeciency (I think it was like 5 per engine and 6 per ladder or something like that). They also said that a company with 1 less was ___% less efficient and 2 less was ____% less and so on. I want to find out what the study said for both engine and ladder companies if anyone has this information.

It was Dallas, Texas FD that did a manpower/efficiency study in the early 1980's. What they have said has been proven for years in many progressive fire departments...More personnel make a safer fireground, less civilan and firefighter death, injuries and property damage. Unfortunately, we are preaching to the choir...the mutts don't give a fat rats a** about manpower, only ways to cut budgets to make themselves look good at re-election time!
‎"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."
