Default Facts about the 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid

Honda currently has two gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles available for sale; the Insight and the new Civic hybrid. The Civic is a five-passenger, four-door gasoline-electric hybrid intended to compete against sales of the Toyota Prius hybrid that has been selling in the US since 2001.

The high-voltage batteries are similar in both vehicles except the 144-volt battery on the four-door Civic Hybrid is inside the trunk, mounted on edge, directly behind the rear seat. Both 12v batteries are under the hood. The orange colored high-voltage wiring runs under the floorpan on both vehicles but on the Civic, it is along the passenger's side. The Insight's orange cables run under the floorpan along the driver's side.

Emergency shutdown procedures for the two Honda hybrids are almost identical.

    1) Place transmission in Neutral (Insight) or Park (Civic)

    2) Turn ignition switch to 'OFF' position
This turns off engine and electric motor, turns off power to airbags and seatbelt pretensioners

    3) Place key on dashboard so it is visible

    4) Shut down the 12v battery by disconnecting or 'double cutting' cables

Both 12v batteries are under the hood on the Honda vehicles

The new Emergency Response guide for the Honda Insight is Reorder #Y0601 and the Civic Hybrid is Reorder #Y0644.

    Ron Moore,

Does the honda have a capacitor to compensate for a compromsied battery, or after the battery/engine has been turnied off. Is there a secondary airbag.
Can you look at my other post Honda Civic Hybrid VS tree. I would greatly appreciate it.
