Default General Notice: Use of the Term 'MUTT'

Use of the term 'MUTT' to refer to another member of the Firehouse.com Forums is a violation of the Terms of Service of the site.

While we will be somewhat liberal in use of the term in general, calling a specific user a 'mutt' in the open forum will be considered a violation of the policy. Additionally, calling a private individual this name as well could be construed as slander and we will monitor it closely.

    Thanks,
    WebTeam

    Webteam,

Sorry about that... I will go back and edit everything I have ever written containing that word.

Just a quick question, what about nicknames? I mean what if we use someone's generally accepted nickname that they use on a regular bases? An example would be the widely accepted term or nickname of "Trekie."

I actually read through the Terms of Service when I signed up and I was wondering if you had a link to them (can't find them now). I just want to brush up and make sure I am playing by the rules.

Once again, sorry for overstepping the boundaries.

These forums are a great place, and I commend you for the services that you provided here. I realize it must a hard job keeping up with 24,600+ members and over 148,000 posts. I think you are doing an acceptational job keeping up.

Unhappy As a result of this "issue"

enginecappy has opted to say "adios" to the Firehouse Forums.

The bottom line here is don't slander another user. That's it. You folks are making too much of nothing. Have you seen us remove any posts that use the term reasonably? No. It was just a simple statement about not using against other users simply to provoke a fight.

If it said don't ever use it again for anything, then you'd have an argument. But since it doesn't why not just move on since the posts that we WERE referring to that did use it in an inappropriate manner have been removed.

    Thanks

I guess if you just said this in the first place, there would have been less reactions. No problem with that policy.

Which means Adze has to be able to "prove beyond reasonable doubt" he is an idiot.

(NO insults intended Adze, just sticking with the legal definitions.)

No kiwi, "reasonable doubt" strictly applies to criminal matters. Adze will have to prove he is what he says he is by the "greater weight" or "preponderence" of the evidence. However, I'll take his word for it so there is no need for the legal B.S.

Actually, I was thinking about editting the graphic and having the arrow point at the smiley face! The irony being that I am Polish (decent-wise that is...America associates that with being not so bright) and the sign is screwed up.

I see, said the blind man to his deaf dog who answered mutely.

Now I understand, I'm 1/4 Irish, and down here they are the equivalent of Polish in America.

That's a shame they do that to people who are 1/4 Irish. It's not their fault that only one of their grandparents are Irish...
