At your meetings, do you allow juniors to vote on subjects such as electing officers and other things?

Not a chance...
At my station, juniors and probies do not vote. That doesn't stop us from communicating our thoughts and ideas to voting members.

As per our Constitution and by-laws...the junior division has a voice but no vote.

I am a probie and cannot vote but our juniors can as long as their probationary period is over and they are participating members.

My current department doesn't have juniors, but in two former departments that did the juniors could attend meetings, but had no voice or no vote. They were also not allowed to be present when personnel matters were discussed. The department I am currently with doesn't allow probationary firefighters to vote during their probationary period, which is six months.

Vol.= No juniors and the probies don't vote for one year.
Career= Again, no juniors and the probies are allowed to vote at union meetings. You pay dues - you get a vote."What makes a person run into a building others are running out of?...Character."- Dennis Smith

No junior firefighters here..we are career. Ranks from Firefighter to Deputy Chief are members of the Marlborough Firefighters Union, Local 1714, IAFF/PFFM.
Probies can vote on union matters after they have been inducted into the Local."The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."

In general meetings the probies and juniors are not allowed to vote.
But we do let them vote on stations issues, like do we want pepperoni or sausage on the pizza.

Juniors are considered the same as other members they can vote on anything. unless it is in an officers meeting then only Sgt.'s through Dist. Chief's can vote.

In my department it is about the same as bfpd36 said. Usually no one listens to them though.
