Trenton mayor shuts down three fire companies

(Trenton-AP) -- Trenton Mayor Douglas Palmer plans to close
three fire companies today.
The move angered firefighters who said it will endanger lives.
Palmer says the cuts will save the city two (M) million dollars.
There had been talk of closing several fire companies over the
last ten years. But union and city leaders said they mayor waited
until the last minute to tell them about his decision.
Council President Frank Cirillo said he did not receive official
word of the closing until after 5 p-m yesterday.
All the affected firefighters will move to other fire
