    Lightbulb an old rookie

I just completed my first responders and Fire I in the eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. The one thing I think I've learned best is listen to those who've learned from experience. As my subject states I'm an older rookie I'm 38 years old and finally living in one spot long enough to join your ranks.Any advice greatfully accepted

under the covers...ignoring the alarm clock!

Well, I'm not a crusty old veteran of firefighting yet , so I don't have any advice that you probably haven't already heard, but I wanted to welcome you anyway. Good luck with everything; what do you plan on doing now that you have your fire 1 and first responder?

    Default Welcome aboard!

You are definitely not alone. I started at 41 and have seen many more seasoned citizens join the ranks since. Take advantage of the benefits of your advanced years...we earned every one of those gray hairs.
