    Question Question Irons Man

What does the term "irons man" mean on a ladder company? I am guessing he carries the haligan and other tools for forceable entry and such jobs? Just curious.

    mwalters@sandburg.edu is my e-mail address.

The "Irons Man" carries the married irons aka: a flat head ax and a halligan. We have a Hydra-Ram now he has to bring also.

T H A N K S. I am retired from a small rural department. Our squad did "ladder company" work on a working fire. So we did not have a "Can man" and an "irons man" assigned specific duties, there was a forceable entry assignment, so the term "irons man" was not clear to me. Now I know.
