Has anyone checked out the 2001 National Run Survey in the June 2002 issue of Firehouse?
Our Unit feels pretty insignificant when you see that the New York FD has an annual budget of $1074.1 million, manpower of 15,681 and a total call rate of 1,379,189!
We have a budget of around $40,000. Manpower of around 110 (53 on pager) and respond to an average of 1000 jobs per year!
Things that make you go mmmmm....

Make Do With What You've Got!
We've been recognised as the busiest and largest Unit in the state of Victoria, Australia.
We certainly raise a lot of extra money for tools etc, but the actual running costs are around $40k....
For example, we've just completed a new HQ at a cost of around $500k and took 8 years to raise funds and build.
We've just purchsed an $80k truck for Rescue. Looking at around another $40k for a back end, lighting, PTO, etc.
A bigger budget allocation would be great, but it just doesn't happen!Luke
