Call for Speakers
We ask that you please forward this notice to colleagues who use hovercraft for rescue operations:
The 1st World Symposium on Hovercraft Rescue seeks first responders to share their knowledge and present their experiences with hovercraft rescue operations. The Symposium will take place September 15, 2002, at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, USA. Presenters will included representatives from Fire, Sheriff and Rescue Departments from throughout the US and abroad, as well as Coast Guard and airport safety personnel.
Presentations will consist of a 10-15-minute discussion detailing any aspects of your hovercraft rescue experience that other departments would find helpful. We are particularly interested in the following topics: hands-on success stories; experiences in ice, flood water, swift water and mud rescue; the advantages/disadvantages of hovercraft in rescue operations; and any advice you would give to other departments utilizing hovercraft.
Presentations will be used to develop a standard Hovercraft Rescue Operating Procedure, to be published by the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute and the Hoverclub of America, Inc.
The Symposium in a part of the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute's 27th. International Conference on Air Cushion Technology, and will be held in conjunction with World Hovercraft Week 2002, with participants from as many as 30 nations.
