    Default Vacation

aaahhhhh.....the rustle of the small animal in the underbrush, the whisper of wings flitting through the trees, the splash of the fish on the lake, the pop of the cap on a bottle of Sam Adams.....4 more days until I get there. can't wait.

    Cool

Hey Tanker, where is "there"? Or is it one of those top secret, can't tell or I'll have to kill you places?

In any case, have a good trip, pack out what ya take in and be careful of those rustlings of small animals, little buggers can be real mean if you happen to pitch your camp on one of their nests.

Tanker, how are the mosquitos up there this time of year? I've been skiing in Maine and the locals say that the mosquitos are the size of small aircraft. Of course, they may have been trying to prevent a run of tourists in the summer. Enjoy!

Well, based on past experiance, will have to keep the kids inside or tied down to a tree.

    Default Going the other direction

Next Sat. we're driving down to Houston, Tx. to visit my wife's aunt. 24 hours of driving each way, should be interesting keeping the kids amused & friendly. Thank heavens for game boy, books, portable CD players, etc. Actually, they do pretty well. Can't wait to drive over to the gulf and listen to the ocean. We'll probably go to NASA too - that should be interesting.

Don't do anything too "interesting" until I get back - wouldn't want to have to imagine it later.

Never been to Maine, but I read several of those Stephen King books. Seems there's quite a few psychos running around up there. You might keep a big stick handy. Enjoy!

Hey Ohio, you coming through Oklahoma on your voyage? And yes, check out the Johnson Space Center--it's pretty cool (and get ready for the humidity!)

Well, it is almost 1 in the morning. Getting up in about 6 hours, throwing the kids in the van and going. 8 hour trip, not to bad. I will let you all know when I get back. Have a good, safe week.

Reference Silver City 4's comment about the psychos.

A tourist was telling a Maine native about how they enjoyed the state but there seemed to be a lot of crazy people there. The Mainer (not Mainiac) replied in a typical Down East accent, " Yup, there sure are but most of them go home right after Labor Day".

    Post Working Vacation

I was at the Florida Summer Chief's Meeting in Naples this week. Although lots of meetings were taking place but it was more of a relaxed family event. So...for the last 3 days I have been working...sitting by the pool....drinking margaritas. A "Working Vacation"

    Default I'm Back

Got back from Houston yesterday - 23 hours of near non-stop driving, finally got a good nights sleep and feel almost human. Thank heavens the tire blow-out happened in daylight. Firestone's getting a call on Monday - sidewalls shouldn't fail suddenly.

    Silver City,
Sorry, path was Ohio-Kentucky-Tennessee-Georgia-Alabama-Mississippi-Lousiana-Texas & the reverse. Didn't come through OK. Did drive to Bartlesville years ago to help move a friend's fiancee back to Ohio. Went to the space center - was underwhelmed. More kids play area than much history or displays on space flight. Johnson space center tour was highly restricted & rushed. Galveston beach was nice, but sunburnt all kids (bad dad, bad dad).

Now to get caught up on a whole weeks worth of messages here - may be up all night.
