Does anyone use one of the private services that handle fire dept. billing for services? If you do, or know of a dept that does...shed some light on how it works, please.

We use a third-party billing company. All we have to do is provide them some basic info. regarding the call; name, address, date of incident and they contact the parties involved and get the necessary info. from them to process the claim to the insurance companies. We can submit data to them as often as we want, every week, 1 time a month, etc. They get a percentage of everything we get back from the insurance companies. We can't bill for manpower or borough owned equipment, only our company owned equipment.

We have had decent returns. Every little bit helps these days.

Do you use F.I.R.E.-Inc.? We are thinking about contacting them.
