Our latest addition was a Pierce 7 man cab with E-one body, purchased used from Chicago. Naturally, it had Black over Red. Liked it so well, we did our 2nd out Engine and Service/Rescue Vehicle (converted Class III Ambulance) to match. Gold leaf and black striping really set it off! We did cheat a little though since one of our members owns a sign shop for the the gold leaf and striping, we painted and striped outselves.

Seen a new Chassis with purple pearl paint, wild but looked great!

Well my favorite is the scheme my department has. The trucks are Red with a white stripe down each side. Our newest trucks also have gold leaf trim and gold lettering. Wish I had a picture. As far as the other colors I like black, black over red, lime green is ok, and i saw some purple ones once. They were different but nice. Then there is white I guess its ok just to me seems to plain. And I dont see how you could use yellow or orange? We arent road construction. Although I have seen some other colors that are nice in my opinion if the truck is used as an emergency vehicle then it needs to be the traditional red but if its for parades, museums, etc. then some other colors are really nice.

    Question Yellow with green

We use Green and Yellow- I like it, but I'm used to it. It's definitely non-traditional...

I like the white over red, not only because that's what we use, but because it looks classy. I do like that Chicago look though.

Call me old-fashioned (in emergency services since 1978), but fire trucks should be red or have red in their paint scheme. My department used to have puke-green, but thankfully has gone back to white over red as we replaced our apparatus the last few years.
I also think police cars should be black/white and ambulances white/orange. These are the colors most ordinary people associate with these vehicles.

    Default Peer pressure?

I have been in the fire service since 1978. My department has the white over red color scheme. Most of us actually perfer the black over red (I do). The reason we haven't changed (other than cost) is because of our close proximity to Chicago (35 miles). Nobody wants to hear, "trying to be like Chicago!?"! Oh well...white over red is my 2nd favorite.

All of our trucks are the lime green/yellow with the white reflective stripe. They look cool and are highly visable. Yet I still love the black over red like chicago.

I like both the white over red and the black over red. My department runs white over red but I think the black over red still looks good

At the risk of being unusual, I really like the rigs from Springfield, Oregon. they're bright orange with blue stripes. I'm sure there are some photos of the trucks floating around the internet. They do have a white over red ladder truck with blue stripes, but thats only because they bought it used, and are too cheap to paint it to match the rest of the fleet.

This what our last 7 Engines look like for paint, and the next 4. Honestly, I would have also painted the roll up doors red also.

I also like the black over red.
