Smile Crown fire trucks, remember them?

Any of you "salty fire dawgs" remember the Crown
Firecoach Fire trucks? They were mainly a West coast
thing but you might remember seeing on in the early
episodes of "Emergency!" (It was an open cab) You can
even buy one of these trucks on www.ebay.com once in
    awhile.

They were big with LA City/County and Orange County.
Quite a few of them got donated to Mexico after service
here in the states. Crown also made buses too. You
might have seen some on the road still today.

There are only 3 four wheel drive trucks that I know
of and they are in Northern Nevada working for the
Nevada Division of Forestry. (email me for pics)

    enclosed cab.

Saw a few Crown units when I was stationed in Hawai'i about 10 years ago. Most of them were spares though but it is kind of interesting to see some types of trucks that were mostly a regional type of unit.

We had Maxims out here in Mass. I know they went out nationwide but they were HUGE around here and there are still a lot left in front line status.

    Default I haven't...

..."riden" on one, and I haven't ridden on one either.

The only thing that I didn't like about the "Emergency" Crown Engine 51 was the siren...yeesh; sounded just like the "Mayfair" ambulances that were always getting to the accident scene a few minutes after Squad 51.

I liked the Q on the Ward Engine 51 much better.

If you like the smaller versions of the Crown fire trucks you can try Code 3 models. They might still have a few left. Code 3 web site

Apology duly noted. I'll let you off with just a written warning this time.
