Unhappy No toilet, no shower....DC Engine Co. 20

Firefighters new headquarters is a trailer with no running water

    (Washington-AP) -- The firefighters from D-C's Engine Company 20
are not happy about their headquarters for the next 18 months -- a
    trailer with no running water.
While their firehouse in Tenleytown is being renovated, the
firefighters will launch their efforts from the trailer that has no
place to shower, go to the bathroom or cook.
The nearest working toilet is in a utility building a few feet
away, and has to be shared with construction workers and other
    personnel.
They've had to drive the firetruck to the Steak `n Egg Kitchen
on Wisconsin Avenue to get breakfast, and they can't shower on the
    job.
The trailer is in a parking lot belonging to the Naval District
    of Washington near Ward Circle.
Fire Department spokesman Alan Etter says the trailer is the
only way to keep the company close to its home area and
firefighters will be a lot more comfortable when the renovation is
    complete.

We have a somewhat similar situation. My part-time department is building a 2nd station. During construction, we stay in a construction trailer. We have to fill a water tank daily so we have water for the toilet. We do have a refrigerator & micro-wave. The trucks sit outside.

The department helps out - we rotate crews with the main station to give us a chance to shower. Meals are carry-out.

Only a couple of more months - the new station should be very nice.

18 months to renovate? I could build several new stations in 18 months.... and no crapper. This is the kind of thing Unions are made for!!!
