WILMER, Ala. (AP) - Weapons, drugs and instructions on how to
make explosives were found in a mobile home after a fire that
injured two occupants and four firefighters, authorities said.
Samuel Jacob Ikner Jr., 46, and Shirley Ikner, 45, the home's
occupants, were taken to the University of South Alabama Medical
Center after the fire on Monday, officials said.
Shirley Ikner, a former school bus driver for the Mobile County
school system, was treated and released, and Samuel Ikner remained
in fair condition Wednesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The four volunteer firefighters were treated Monday evening and
returned to normal activities by Tuesday, according to the Wilmer
Volunteer Fire chief.
Authorities said they discovered a cache of guns, instructions
on how to make C-4 explosives, 9 grams of powdered methamphetamine
and 20 grams of marijuana in the home.
No charges had been filed as of Wednesday, Drug Enforcement
Administration agent Sam Houston said.
