Arson dog Zack retires from life fighting crime
ATLANTA (AP) - Zack, the state's arson dog, retired Wednesday
after a seven-year career sniffing out suspicious fires and helping
investigators make more than 100 arrests.
Zack, a Labrador retriever who was involved in more than 700
fire investigations, was honored by the Arson Unit at a retirement
party.
He was born in December 1991 and got the job in May 1995 as the
state's second arson dog.
Zack will spend his retirement with his handler, Ty Moorman.
He will be replaced by Bonnie, a chocolate black Labrador
retriever, who just graduated from training in Maine. Bonnie joins
Savannah and Georgia, the other arson dogs employed by the state.
