We need to make some maps of our jurisdiction and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for good/accurate software to use. Thanks

A friend of mine, also a FF works for Applied Geographics in Boston. They do work in Mass, try them. Their site is www.Appgeo.com.

Try your County Planning Commission; if they have a good GIS set up they should be able to give you almost any type of map you need, including Hydrant locations, 911 addresses, Schools, hospitals, etc.
