Alot of times we are able to go to the local Lowe's or Home Depotand get a great price or, on several occassions, batteries (and smoke alarms) donated.

It may be too late now but Energizer was just running a promo where you could apply for free batteries for the Change You Clock/Battery campaign.

--Request a battery donation from Energizer to help low-income and at-risk families by calling the Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery hotline, 314-995-3939 or fax the battery donation request form to 314-995-5702. http://www.iafc.org/pdf/other/cycban.doc
