HI THERE FROM EUROPE,
I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANY ONE COULD HELP WITH SOME ADVICE FOR A FUTURE FIREFIGHTER.I AM CURRENTLY IN THE BRITISH ARMY {LAST 8 YEARS} BUT WILL BE LIVING IN THE U.S EARLY/ MID NEXT YEAR. ANY ADVICE OF WHAT I CAN DO IN THE MEANTIME TO HELP WITH A QUICKER, MORE SUCCESSFUL CAREER CHANGE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

I don't really know how the qualifications will transfer, but you can get a EMT or Paramedic cert. now. Any firefighting experience will be helpful and also make the tests for Firefighter I and II easier. You can use practical experience to challange the tests for FF I and II. With those qualifications the next step would be to get on the hiring lists for departments. They very from place to place but usually they have a written and physical test when a vacancy arrises or various times throught the year.
