Mom and child dead- South Carolina
Actual location is Clinton, North Carolina
(Clinton-AP) -- A mother and son died this morning when fire
destroyed their mobile home in Sampson County.
The fire broke out in the home's living room around 3 a-m.
That's according to Clinton Fire Chief Philip Miller.
Fire officials say a family of four lived in the home. The
father, Carlos Vasquez, and his daughter, Itzel Vasquez, were
treated and released from Sampson Regional Medical Center.
Miller says Carlos Vasquez cut his arm on broken glass while
saving the girl.
The girl reported that the family had left its Christmas tree
lights on. The tree was found in the living room, but Miller says
investigators have not determined what caused the blaze.
Miller says he does not know why a Christmas tree was in place
in early November.
Arson investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation were
called to the scene.
