    The Ashford Fire Department regretfully announced the line of duty death of Chief Bruce Fletcher. Details and arrangements will be forthcoming when available.

    Oh No! Not another one. This is getting to be a much too common occurence. My prayers for the brother and his family are on their way.

    My thoughts and prayers to this firefighter's family. Always a sad day in CT when a firefighter falls in the line of duty.

    Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 22nd 2002 at Potter's Funeral Home in Willimantic from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 23rd 2002 at the Ashford Baptist Church located on Route 89 in Westford Village at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Westford Hill Cemetery.

    A reception will be held at the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp located on Route 44.

    All those planning to attend the funeral are requested to park at the Ashford School located on Route 89. Transportation will be provided.

    Subject: Arrangements for Chief Bruce Fletcher

    The Wake for Chief Fletcher will be held on Friday evening, November 22, 2002 at the Potter Funeral Home on Rt. 195 in Willimantic, Ct. The calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

    The Funeral will be held on November 23, 2002 at the Ashford Baptist Church located on Rt. 89 in Westfield Village at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Westfield Hill Cemetery.

    HOWEVER!!! It is requested that all members attending the services follow the guidelines provided below for both the Wake and Funeral.

    FRIDAY EVENING WAKE:
    ALL DEPARTMENT MEMBERS ARE TO ASSEMBLE AT THE COMMUTER PARKING LOT ON SOUTH FRONTAGE RD. IN MANSFIELD BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 4:00 PM AND 8:00 P.M. A SHUTTLE BUS WILL THEN TRANSPORT MEMBERS TO POTTERS FUNERAL HOME WHERE YOU WILL BE DROPPED OFF AND THEN SHUTTLED BACK TO THE COMMUTER PARKING LOT. ALL RADIOS TO INCLUDE IN-VEHICLE REPEATERS MUST BE TURNED OFF WHILE PARKED IN THE LOT IN AN EFFORT TO KEEP ALL OF THE OPTIONS FOR RADIO FREQUENCIES OPEN. THE TOLLAND COUNTY SUPPORT SERVICE VEHICLE WILL BE PLACED AT THE COMMUTER LOT AS A MARKER.

    SATURDAY MORNING FUNERAL SERVICE:
    ALL DEPARTMENT MEMBERS ARE REQUESTED TO ASSEMBLE AT THE ASHFORD SCHOOL ON RT 89 IN ASHFORD BY 9:30 A.M. SHUTTLE BUSSES WILL DROP MEMBERS OFF AT THE BAPTIST CHURCH. AFTER A BRIEF SERVICE, IT IS ANTISIPATED THAT MEMBERS WILL MARCH TO THE CEMETERY WHERE AFTER THE SERVICE, MEMBERS WILL BE BUSSES EITHER TO THE HOLE IN THE WALL CAMP OR BACK TO THE SCHOOL.

    MORE INFORMATION WILL BE PROVIDED ON SITE FRIDAY 195 COMMUTER LOT, AND SATURDAY MORNING AT ASH FORD SCHOOL.

    ONCE AGAIN ALL RADIOS MUST BE TURNED OFF WHILE IN THE AREA (S) ESPECIALLY IN-VEHICLE REPEATERS.

    THE OPERATING FREQUENCY WILL BE LOW BAND 33:78 OR UHF FIRE GROUND RED CROSS BANDED TO 33:78.

    ANY FOOD DONATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE TOWN HALL ASHFORD PRIOR TO THE SERVICE SATURDAY. REFRESHMENTS WILL BE PROVIDED AFTER THE SERVICE SATURDAY AT THE HOLE IN THE WALL CAMP.

    RT. 89 WILL BE CLOSED TO ALL TRAFFIC AT 9:30 A.M. SATURDAY.
