Six killed, one injured in car-SUV collision

Six people were killed and one was critically injured when an SUV and a car collided early Saturday, police said.

Miami police did not immediately identify those involved in the crash, which occurred shortly before 7 a.m. All appeared to be in their early- to mid-20s, said police spokesman Delrish Moss.

A Toyota Corolla carrying five people was heading north on a residential street, while a Suzuki Grand Vitara with two women aboard was moving south.

A witness told police the Toyota was speeding when the apparent head-on collision occurred.

Police said everyone in the Toyota was killed. The passenger of the Suzuki also died. The driver was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Investigators were trying to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
