Default "I'd like to thank the Academy, my agent, my pet lizard Rocco, my cousin Habib....

So what are the nominations for "Thread of the Year?"

What thread did you find most fascinating, infuriating or hilarious?

My personal favorites were the Lairdsville series...as much as I would get frustrated or saddened by those threads...they were the ones that I just had to come back to this year.

Some of the "party/picnic" etc. ones were entertaining too.

You want a list of nominations for thread of the year. Oh so much to consider! For humor you have many of the threads started by Mr Stayback himself (and, many of the ones he ended up posting to for that matter).

For the ability to draw you in, and coining a new phrase I would have to go with the Lairdsville threads and coining the phrase "Bairding". Although the beer ban thread is approaching the same status, as the Lt from Amsterdam said "its like a bad car accident you know its going to be bad but you have to look anyway!" But it might not be wrapped up this year so I am not sure if it qualifies.

I stand corrected! There were probably several zinger-ers whom I have omitted. Please, feel free to expand the field!

For humor, I'm split between EastKy and The Malahat Bunch.

    Talking The envelope please

The award for best performance in a comedy series goes to:

StayBack500FT for his performance in Stayback and the attack of the killer stop sign!

You've got a cousin named Habib?

You know, it's tough to mention the Lairdsville threads and the beer ban thread in the same sentance, but for hold-over running time and shear tenacity.....

Wait a minute. Scratch that. To mention anything connected with cdevoe for an award is like giving an Oscar to Dude, Where's My Car?

Well, I think cdevoe is a shoe-in for the fish......

EFD840 you beat me too it. I cast my vote for Stayback500ft and his faithful stop sign.

    Wink Stayback sequel????

Engine101, I don't think Stayback would agree to a sequel. Malahat Two-7's magic flaming hand really deserves an honorable mention in the comedy category and maybe an award in the special effects category. Perhaps the rest of the Malahat contingent could engineer a sequel to that one.

That is true, the "killer stop sign" post is a classic for humor.
But in the Herman Melville catagory of the "never ending story", it has to go to the beer ban thread.

As pointed out by Stayback, I agree some of the most frustrating threads have been the Lairdsville posts.

For most entertaining, the Beer/Picnic threads had us all going through the summer.

As an individual story, my nomination for most bizzar would have to be the story of the gentleman who posed as a US Military officer during the Alabama(?) bridge collapse. Who is his right mind would go around dressed as ANY OFFICER?

My Darwin type nominations are crossed between the kids who tried to see if lighter fluid really does burn blue, and the "kid in the wash machine" story.

However, my favourite for most humorous goes out as a double nomination between Stayback and his stop sign incident, and NJFFS for his tale of his tangle with "the Rock" at the bottom of the gully. Hfd66truck gets an Honorable Mention for his "Trained Professional" entry on how not to build a deck and railing.

(These are just the ramblings of a guy "Looking for his Village..."

    Default The envelope please....

It has been a very topsy-turvy year.
The Lifetime Achievement Award should go to the esteemed president of the organization that he founded-the IACOJ. Off Duty Discussions were established as the showcase for IACOJ posts. Couldn't have done it without Captain Gonzo.
One of the most prolific thread starters and a fellow crusty is none other than Captstan1. With all that he is involved in, he single-handedly kept us apprised of the Florida scene.
Temptaker gets the Thalberg award for her non-compromising style.
Mongo, though conspicuously missing this year, set a standard and style that is often imitated. He is a Hall of Famer.
Kiwi, NJ, MOTOWN, EastKy, Lt; there are just so many that made it easy to come to the Forums for meaningful dialogue. I can't wait until the book comes out. 2003 should be a real hoot.
Zingers? I prefer Twinkies. And chili.
And don't forget the best firehouse chef-Superchef.

Damn, I thought my bachalor party would have had a nomination by now...... I am, after all, still cleaning up the emptys and rounding up the loose sheep (how loose are they? Ask kiwi.... ) and it was one of the longest running thread since Woody's... (I would trade all of it if the Webteam would get back to me on my christmas request!!!!!!hint hint!!!)

If I had to vote, right here, right now, it would be for Stayback vs the killer stops signs from the avacoto jungle of death. Besides, I still have the stop sign as my Avitar to pay tribute to the man you went head to head with one of the greatest signs of oppression in history...
