I have the cure from our beer consumption thread. We all have a basic belief that the departments that we belong too are the best at what we do , with that in mind lets see if we can create an internet fire department from the members of these fourms. We should try to come up the structure of our department(ex. Paid, combo,or volly),leadership with in the department, rules and budgets or anything else we think is nessary to run this department. We should try and keep it lite and respect others opinons. I'll start it off.
I think the Department should be a combo department so that we have the greatest membership

Need to know the demographics of the protected area. How many people. How big an area. Wealth of the community. Types of hazards.

Then we need 2 pumper/tankers. 2 Tankers, A ladder/platform truck, 2 brush trucks, a boat for water rescue, 2 snowmobiles for snow and ice rescue, 2 ATVs for search and rescue, and a helicopter.

Need 1 Heavy Rescue to carry all the tools & gear.
Also need 1 Light Rescue/Utility (or even better a Light & Air truck) to pull the Trailer(s) with the Boat, ATV's, and Snowmobiles.
If we're doing EMS as well, then lets add 6 ALS Ambulances with 2 FF/EMT's & 1 FF/Medic per truck (Hey - we said we could do what we want right ??)
SOP's for structure fire would include 2 Ambulances 1 for Rehab (and stand-by in case of injury) and the other as part of the RIT assignment.Take Care - Stay Safe - God Bless

Great Idea. We get a winnebago. We fix it up to have all kinds of radios and communications equipment. It has a kitchen, a meeting area and a rest area. We can call it a Mobile Command Post.

Ryan.
I am with you on the RIT. Got my BA, and tools to go.
PS. Even tho we don't use them down here, I reckon one thing has to be stated for this department.

Ya know, deep down inside, I knew that was coming.
Just ignore him. Please.
I got to thinking, we are gonna need one hell of a lot more equipment.
At least two trucks. Maybe three. Six ambos won't cut it, either. 250k pop should see about 20,000 calls per year. If 70% are EMS that =14,000 runs. That'd be about six calls/day/ambo. I'd rather see that down around 3 (JMHO).
FTE duty shift of 50-55.
More to come....
