I have heard that there are IAFF Firehouses that cannot accept or provide mutual aid with a non-union department.
Is this true?
Thanks

No!
My city is 100% paid IAFF local and 90% of our aid comes from volly departments that boarder us. Who ever told that is not in the real world, most of the aid renderd to paid departments, with exception of large metro areas comes from volly or combo departments. Has for union vs. non union ...yeah I would like the union department, but they better be trained.

Thanks"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."

In my neck of the woods the career departments call only other career departments. Even if its 3 times farther away. I don't know if this is a union thing or a contract thing but I know they never call the volley's.
All opinions are my own and have nothing to do with any agencies i belong to.

Most likey an internal department issue, not likely to be a union vs. volunteer one.
