7 workers recovering after fire at Canyons
PARK CITY — Seven workers are recovering from smoke inhalation from a fire at a construction site at The Canyons ski resort.
Three construction workers were treated on the scene and released. Four were transported to Salt Lake hospitals for treatment and are expected to fully recover, Park City Fire Service District Capt. T.J. Kennedy said.
The fire started about 10:45 a.m. Monday in a building that will house the Westgate Resorts swimming pool. The fire was contained to foam insulation. Damage was estimated at $5,000 to $10,000. The steel frame around the building was not damaged, Kennedy said.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation, but fire investigators are looking into a saw that was cutting metal on the second floor. Sparks may have landed on the foam insulation below, Kennedy said.
