WAUMANDEE, Wis. (AP) - Two boys died in fire inside a pole barn
nearly filled with hay, Buffalo County Sheriff Harry Schreiner said
Tuesday.
The boys, ages 12 and 13, were taken to a hospital in Eau Claire
so they could be identified through dental records, the sheriff
said. Their names were not immediately released.
The fire erupted about 4 p.m. Monday in a storage barn just
outside town, the sheriff said.
What ignited the fire remained under investigation, he said.
"It looks like an accident."
The body of one of the boys was found in the ruins Monday night,
and the other was found Tuesday, the sheriff said.
The boys lived at the farm but it was not immediately known
whether they were brothers or stepbrothers, Schreiner said.
The building was about three-fourths full of hay and it was also
used to store various pieces of farm machinery, he said.
