    Default Spirit of Oklahoma

    Questions for our FDNY members....

    Where is this unit stationed?
Is this unit in addition to Rescues 1 thru 5?
Why did they label it...Rescue Services?

I've seen it frequenting the upper west side of Manhattan lately...and it's presence reminds me of the special bond between FDNY special ops members...and Oklahoma City Fire/Rescue members.

    The "Spirit" is alive.

I was told that this unit is used as a reserve rescue/SOC unit. It was meant to fill in for rescue co. rigs down for service or repairs. If it is being used regularly now by a company, I can't tell you by whom.

I think they're using it as a spare. When one of the regular rigs goes down, this will be used until the regular rig is repaired. Thats why it doesnt have a specific company number on it.

To my knowledge it was delievered to be a dedicated spare rig for the Rescue Co.'s. As for the "Rescue Services" labeling on it, it is not new to FDNY Rescue Co. rigs. If you look at the older Rescue Co. rigs it is there also. Take the '96 HME/Saulsbury rigs for example, there is usually the individual Rescue Co. patch on the rig plus a round blue patch. That round blue patch is actually the Rescue Services patch of the FDNY. I would say it is labeled with "Rescue Services" like it is because of the following reasons:

    1) FDNY didn't exactly spec the rig and the labeling, the builder
built it to the spec as close as they could for whatever reason.
    2) It is not assigned to a specific Rescue Co. By labeling it as
they did, it identifies the rig as a Rescue Co. when it is on the
street instead of another type of company.

    Just some thoughts.
Stay low and move it in.

    Be safe.

Hopefully R1 isn't OOS for something bad...

How're the E-One/Saulsbury's holding up in general, for those that might know?
