BROOKSVILLE -- A truck carrying liquid oxygen sprang a small leak Thursday morning as it stopped near on State Road 50 near WPA Road, Hernando County Fire Rescue officials said.

The truck began leaking through a valve about 9:15 a.m., said fire rescue Capt. Brent Blankenship.

The truck looked as if it was smoking, but the vapor was produced when the liquid oxygen hit the air and turned into gas, Blankenship said. No one was injured. Traffic was diverted for a time onto other roads.

The truck was moved to a more isolated area, and the liquid oxygen was loaded into another truck, Blankenship said.
