Hey I could use a date for this party too!. I'm wearing my best black lacey bits.

Mr. Wendt- I nominate you for a Purple Hydrant for ridding the forums of the evil scourge.

Now, the mistletoe is hanging over the buffet table The chef would like a kiss or two if you want to be feed.

Oh Stayback how about another one.

    Twas the night before Christmas
    In a Crusty old Forum
    I sat at my ‘puter
    In search of a quorum

    When out on the street
    There arose such a clatter
    I sprang from my keyboard
To see what was the matter

When what to my wonderous eyes did appear
But devoe out driving and drinking a beer

    He skidded and screeched
    Then what did I see
    His car neatly wrapped
    ‘round an old maple tree

Respect, Cheffie, Tempie, Pfire were there
    The snow gently glistened
In the locks of their hair

    Now Kiwi was lost
In a land way down under
    In search of a Lamb
    To pillage and plunder

    Sub Green remained locked
In the fight for a raise
    You can’t feed the family
    On nothing but praise

    The Captain from Lewiston
    Was out shopping the malls
With his new wife who had just
    Severed his balls

    Gonzo shopped too
    His only pretense
Was to not buy a gift
That cost more than three cents

    Steamer showed grit
As he laughed through the pains
    Of knowing the champs
    Would be Hurricanes

    Stayback was fast
    To get out of line
    With our Ladies of Tundra
    Who showed the STOP sign

    We gathered
    We Drank
    We laughed and we shouted
    We hugged and we kissed
    Who would have doubted
    We were brother and sister
    We answer the call
We help out the strong the weak and the small

    The party is great
    We’re all having fun
Then we stop ‘cause we know
    Something has to be done

    We paused for a moment
    To remember our Bothers
    Who laid down their lives
    In the service of others

    Talking the buffet is open...........

    Spicy glazed pecans

Crostini with mushrooms, roasted garlic and tomatoes

    Mini pizzas
An assortment of toppings....tomato,s mushrooms, garlic, spicy sauteed shrimp, roasted red peppers, olives, your choice, and cheese of course, fresh grated parmesan, hot melted mozzerella

    Sweet and sour chicken wings

Carmelized onion, apple and brie tartlets

A platter of assorted cheeses, crackers, olives, roasted bell peppers

Smoked salmon rolls with a sour cream herb filling

Crab cakes with a red bell pepper sauce

Shrimp with a spicy fruit salsa

Crispy chicken wontons with an apricot-curry sauce

Mini chocolate caramel tarts with roasted bananas

Grilled marinated vegetables served with fresh mozzarella

    Cookies-----

we have chocolate shortbread, lemon bars, reindeer shaped cookies, elf shaped cookies, thumbprint cookies, cinnamon cookies

I wonder if they make a fire engine shaped cookie cutter? I will have to see if I can find one.

Now I need a drink, is the bar open yet?

Awesome poem 229. There should be an award for this. The mistletoe is right here over the buffet.

    - Food, Glorious Food
    [Men]
Is it worth the waiting for?
If we live 'til eighty four
All we ever get is gru...el!
Ev'ry day we say our prayer --
Will they change the bill of fare?
Still we get the same old gru...el!
There is not a cust, not a crumb can we find,
Can we beg, can we borrow, or cadge,
But there's nothing to stop us from getting a thrill
When we all close our eyes and imag...ine

    Food, glorious food!
    Hot sausage and mustard!
While we're in the mood --
    Cold jelly and custard!
    Pease pudding and saveloys!
    What next is the question?
Rich gentlemen have it, boys --
    In-di-gestion!

    Food, glorious food!
    We're anxious to try it.
    Three banquets a day --
    Our favourite diet!

Just picture a great big steak --
    Fried, roasted or stewed.
    Oh, food,
    Wonderful food,
    Marvellous food,
    Glorous food.

    Food, glorious food!
    What is ther emore handsome?
    Gulped, swallowed or chewed --
    Still worth a kin's ransom.
What is it we dream about?
    Wat brings on a sigh?
Piled pieahes and cream , about
    Six feet high!

    Food, glorious food!
    Eat right through the menu.
    Just loosen your belt
    Two inches and then you
    Work up a new appetite.
    In this interlude --
    The food,
    Once again, food
    Fabulous food,
    Glorious food.

    Food, glorious food!
Don't care what it looks like --
    Burned!
    Underdone!
    Crude!
Don't care what the cook's like.
Just thinking of growing fat --
    Our senses go reeling
    One moment of knowing that
    Full-up feeling!

    Food, glorious food!
    What wouldn't we give for
    That extra bit more --
That's all that we live for
Why should we be fated to
    Do nothing but brood
    On food,
    Magical food,
    Wonderful food,
    Marvellous food,
    Fabulous food,

    [Ladies]
    Beautiful food,

    [Men]
    Glorious food

(sneaks up behind George as he stands by the buffet table and plops a santa hat on him). So I guess a perfectly respectable kiss on the cheek under the mistletoe is out of the question?

    For the buffet.....

The aromas of shallots and garlic while they saute, then she adds an assortment of fresh wild mushrooms, diced roasted tomatoes, basil, oregano, rosemary, freshly pureed tomato sauce, some red wine and lets it simmer. In the oven, the sourdough baguettes bake along with cloves of garlic for the garlic butter. The pasta is boiling and the freshly grated Parmesano is ready.

A salad of mixed baby greens, cucumber, jicima, baby carrots tossed with a sherry-balsamic vinaigrette.

On the other burner, a pot of Chief Reasons, Spicy knock you on your buns hot Chili. The thick spicy chunks of meat and beans simmerering slowly.....

Tempie, welcome to the party. But now I need a date.

    Hot Buttered Rum anyone?

I've also uncorked a '77 Taylor Fladgate Port for the occasion.

Sherry, I'd be honored. With a name like Sherry, you belong with the bartender.
