Providence firefighters hit the streets Thursday not with hoses, but with picket signs.
They protested what they call a lack of progress on public safety issues.
The union says lifesaving equipment is regularly out of service for long periods of time. It also charges ladder companies lack basic rescue tools.
There was no immediate response from the city to the allegations.
Firefighters raised the same issues in September when they took a no confidence vote in department leadership.

THATS GREAT, WE NEED TO START DOING SOMETHING ABOUT HOW CITIES ARE NOT PROVIDING DEPARTMENTS WITH ENOUGH MONEY TO BUY THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT, AND NOT GETTING EQUIPMENT FIXED IN A TIMELY MANNER. PROTESTING IS A START. BUT, OTHER THINGS NEED TO BE DONE.
