We use the same as the firefighters a Phenix helmet. I think they look kinda strange but its free so I wont complain to much.

Here is what they look like you can decide for yourself.

Well, as Juniors or volunteer probies, we get some Bullard Firedome, I don't remember the exact model, but it is coated with rubber. When a vollie gets off probation or a Junior turns 18, they get a 1010 as soon as possible. I broke down and bought my own though, because I don't like that rubber thing, I bought a Ben Franklin 2, and it is AWESOME! I love it!
These are my opinions, not those of my career department, my volunteer company, or my affiliates. And by the way, I'm not a Junior.

Here, we are in the process of converting our older helmets, which I think are Bullards, to Cairn 1010's. I really absolutely love these helmets. Our Chief and Deputy Chief stupidly ordered Bullards when they first decided they needed new ones. I have worn them before, and I would have given a million dollars for a Cairns helmet. They are lighter and more versitile than Bullards, in my opinion. We also have a mix of the Cairns, some have bourkes eye shields and some have the full face shield. I prefer the bourkes, but they aren't NFPA compliant without the goggles. That's my opinion.

Explorers use Carins 770 because they were donated by another Dept.

    Real firefighters use Carins 660c

Our juniors get issued yellow Cairns 660C Metros (two of us have Bullard Firedome CX, the traditional style plastic, like the Cairns 1010), and senior members are issued Cairns N6A Houstans natural leather color. The natural looks hot with PBI gear and the black patent leater furnace pieces we have on the front. I can't wait to get my leather, although I am glad I'm one of the two guys with the Bullards. I'd rather wear my Bullard than a toilet bowl.

We're in the process of converting right now. Officers, engineers, and 6 FF's just got new 1010's. The rest of the sr. FF's should be getting their 1010's in the next few months. Up until now, juniors wore old-style helmets, but since I was the only one and the helmet didn't fit right, they gave me a Morning Pride lite force IV, which is what sr. FF's will wear until they get their new 1010's. So, within the next few months, sr. FF's will wear 1010's and jr. FF's will wear lite force's.
