Final Alarm for Newton Fire Chief
Newton Fire Department, Newton NJ, mourns the loss of Department Chief Edward Jasovsky. Chief Jasovsky died suddenly at home on Christmas Day of natural causes. He was a 15 year veteran of Chemical Company #2 NFD and was a former member of the Sparta Township Fire Department, Sparta NJ. He was 41 years old.
During his time as a Firefighter and Officer of the Department, Chief Jasovsky was responsible for forming our Vehicle Extrication Team and FAST Team. He was also intrumental in designing our new Engine #2. Chief Jasovsky was dedicated to training and committed to progressive technical ability. He loved to share what he knew with others and was always open to new ideas and concepts.
The Firemans Funeral was December 30th 2002 at the Sparta Cemetary. The Department would like to thank the Fire Departments, Rescue Squads and Police Departments that assisted us and supported us during our moment of grief. We thank you for your kindness and brotherhood.
Until each of us answers our final alarm we say "God speed Ed, you will be missed".
