My dept. is going to purchase a tanker this year (that would be tender for you left-coast types).
There has been some talk of getting a vacuum tanker with a smallish PTO driven fire pump. Any experiences with vacuum tanks - good or bad?
I'm not convinced it's the way to go, but then we could always make some extra money on the side cleaning out septic tanks![]()

At a Rural Water Supply class, we had a contest among 10 different tankers.
The vacuum tanker won hands down, most GPM delivered, fastest filling, fastest loading, great maneuverability and lowest cost.
Burlington, CT has two.
