Philadelphia Firefighters closed out the year with a Fast moving 2 Alarm Church Fire on Dec 31 2002

At 1:35p.m., Box 2341 at 2nd Street & Dickinson was struck, ( Pipeline 3, Eng 53, Eng 10, Pipeline 49, Lad 27, Lad 11, Batt Chf 4, Batt Chf 3, Dep Chf 1, Res Co. 1, Medic 27), First arriving units found heavy smoke and fire coming from a large Buddhist Temple Church at 240 Greenwich Sts in South Phila. Batt Chf 4 requested a second Alarm at 1:40p.m. Pipeline 28, Pipeline 5, Eng 12, Eng 24, Surrt 8, Batt Chf 1, Batt Chf 8, Phila Second Alarmers SA-1 and SA-10 Rapid Response Vehicle. Fire was placed Under Control at 2:40p.m. A Special Manpower Call was made for 4 Ladder Co's Ladders 15, 23, 3, Snorkel 28, Eng 13, Air Unit -1. Firefighters did a great job in stopping the spread of the blaze from getting into a near by building housing The Golden Sunrise Mummers who were getting ready for the Mummers Day Parade on New Years Day.

Also, using the camera's to check for hidden pockets of fire. Primary search of the 2nd; 3rd; & 4th. floors are negative. Primary search still underway on the 1st. floor. We have duplex apartments here. Still Doubtful.
