    Hey guys/gals whats up? Just wondering if you could point me towards the fisrt ever paid fire dept.? Its for Fire school. Thanks

    Click on History -- also it's in their heading that they're the Nations first Paid Muncipal Fire Dept -- 1678

    From the timeline.........

    1678 Building laws required slate or "tyle" roofs and brick walls.

    First paid (call) municipal fire department organized.

    But don't forget that Cincinnati was the first totally paid career department. In April 1853 the department did away with the volunteers and all members were paid firefighters.
