Default Impersonating a Firefighter....and selling cars?

NEW YORK (AP) - A Queens man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly
impersonating a firefighter and offering to sell luxury cars to
unsuspecting customers for cut-rate prices, fire officials said.
Maurice Knight, 25, allegedly posed as a fire lieutenant using a
fake uniform and badges and offered to sell people BMWs and
Mercedes Benzs for as little as $500. He said he could acquire the
    cars from the city pound.
Over the past five years, he has allegedly duped some 80 people
out of at least $20,000, authorities said.
After his arrest, Knight denied the allegations, saying,
"They're stretching the truth real thin."
Fire officials say Knight also allegedly acquired uniforms and
garments to impersonate transit safety officials and a St. John's
    University professor.
Telephone messages left with the Brooklyn district attorney's
    office were not immediately returned.

Yeah, but come on- who buys a car from a "firefighter" with such convincing statements as "He said he could acquire the cars from the city pound."

    I mean, really.

It's NYC, man. Every body is looking for an angle.

It wouldn't be New York without the angles, right George? My wife has relatives in New York and when they come to Baltimore to visit they always experience culture shock when they try to buy something. When they try to play the angles here, no one quite knows what to do with them.
