No, not really, we focus on the fire/EMS side of things, since we hardly ever have any specialized rescue incidents.

Our department does a lot of rescue training but our post doesn't really focus on it, we're 95% on the fire/EMS side.

Well, since I live in the land of 10,000 lakes, we just finished our annual refresher course for Ice/Cold Water Rescue. We've also done Confined Space Rescue. We're going to be doing more but we do focus on the fire side of it more.

I also live in the land of 10,000 lakes, but we have only done search and rescue 2 times since I have been there (1.5 years), and it was in confined space.

We focus on fire ops mostly, but we do have a town-wide EAP for things like mass casualty incidents and plane crashes since we're in the flight path of a major airport. I belong to a SAR organization that does both wilderness and urban ground search and rescue ops for the USAF. It's kinda why I joined the FD, because there wasn't enough action going on in the SAR world for me. Seems that houses burn and cars crash more often than people get lost in the woods or small aircraft nose-dive into the sides of mountains . We've done some rescue training, but there are other departments in town who have the specialized equipment to deal with things like water rescue (hovercraft anyone? ) or confined space rescue.

We are not aloud on rescue calls, or well not aloud to do stuff at them i mean, unless we are certified, and if we are, we strill cant take part in vehicle extrication
