House fire kills one in Hebron

(Hebron-AP) -- A former town political leader died today
Wednesday in an early morning fire that swept through a large
wood-frame Colonial home in Hebron.
The body of Henry Clay Osborn the Third, who was confined to a
wheelchair, was found five hours after firefighters arrived at the
scene.
Fire officials say the blaze was reported just before 6 o'clock
this morning and the building was fully engulfed by the time crews
arrived.
Osborn, who was in his 80s, was former chairman of the
Republican Town Committee. Neighbors said he was the only occupant
of the home.
Near-zero temperatures made firefighters' work harder because
water in the pumper lines froze. Firefighters had to break through
ice at a nearby pond for the water supply.
An investigation is continuing.
