used to, took it down for roof work. Then we got a complaint from a stratford resident who said that it woke her baby up when it went off. We had to take it down, but were thinkin of puttin it back up soon.

It would sound 4 times for calls.

Ours goes off for every incident that is 2nd alarm or above, we haven't used it lately. Man, that thing is LOUD too.

we use ours for any fire that sounds like it is big or could get big, we also use it for confirmed structure fires, during the morning and during the day. it is also programmed to go off at noon and 1800 every day except sunday.

We have an old air-raid siren that goes off twice when we get calls, 24/7. Some of the members who live nearby don't even turn their pagers on when they're home because they have the siren to alert them. Only one problem with air-raid sirens... the instinct to duck and cover when the thing goes off that was instilled in me from mil training was hard to overturn. It still startles me sometimes when I'm in the station and it goes off becauese of the volume.

Don't kill the tradition... Blow the whistle. Why do people always complain about the sirens being so loud.. Last time I checked.... THAT WAS THE POINT!!!

    Cool

Our fire company has a Mechanical Siren on our roof, it goes off about 4 or 5 times after our pager tones go off. It only goes (of course) when there is a fire, it wont go for QRS or EMS Assists

well back in the early 90's we took it down when we trransfered to our current dept. i dont think many people liked it but the only reason why we had it is because it was directly in town but now the dept. isnt directly in the middle of town. when we had ours up it would sound different amounts of times for what ever kind of run it was like it would sound like 3 times for a MVA. 4 times for MVA with intrapment. and maybe 6 times for a structure. something arount that area
